A 35-yr-old infertility patient failed 3IUI and 4 IVFs with stage 4 (most severe type) of endometriosis prior to seeing Dr. Lee for infertility treatment with acupuncture. Her endometriosis was so extensive that it can not be removed with damaging other organs. She started her 1st treatment with Dr. Lee on 10-27-04. After 7 acupuncture and herbal treatments, when she got her period a month later, her menstrual cramps were much less only one day of moderate cramps instead of 4 days. She no longer need to stay in bed for 2 days.

She had 6 more acupuncture and herbal treatments with her frozen embryo transfer. But, it was not successful.

She had 8 more acupuncture treatments with her 6th IVF fresh cycle and

found out she was pregnant on 6-15-05.

Bottom line: Patient has better chance to get pregnant with IVF when the endometriosis is reduced or minimized.

A 42-yr-old infertility patient failed 2 IUIs prior to seeing Dr. Lee for infertility treatment with acupuncture. She had only 6 acupuncture treatments the before she was to have her 1st IVF. She had only 5 eggs retrieved and 2 fertilized even with 5 more treatment during her IVF cycle. She did not get pregnant. She restarted acupuncture with her 2nd IVF 5 month later. 6 more acupuncture treatments later, she had 15 eggs retrieved and 9 fertilized at age of 42! She is now pregnant with strong HCG numbers.

Bottom line: It takes about 3 months (85 days) for a new batch of eggs to fully mature. At the beginning of the menstrual cycle, the egg that is going to mature for ovulation in 14 days, is already growing for the previous 70 days. So, if it takes a month for acupuncture to optimize the woman's condition, it may take 3 more months to see the result.

8/18/05 update. Fertilization rate went up from 45% to 67%.

A 34-yr-old infertility patient who had 4 natural pregnancies and 2 of them were in the tubes and one ended in miscarriage and one full term 5 years ago. She then tried 2 IVFs. She was pregnant only for 3 months in her 1st IVF and was not pregnancy in 2nd IVF. She had 2 treatments with Dr. Lee for infertility with acupuncture. She had 12 out of 18 eggs fertilized (67%) this time vs. 11 out of 24 (45%) in her 1st IVF without acupuncture. She was pregnant as of 8/18/05.

8/27/05 update

A 32-yr-old infertility patient who had 5 natural pregnancies all ended in miscarriages. She then tried and failed 2 IVFs. She had 7 treatments with Dr. Lee for infertility with acupuncture and herbs prior and during her 3rd IVF. She is now pregnant as of 8/27/05

7-18-05 update

A 38-yr-old infertility patient from Hacienda Heights, failed to get pregnant after trying on their own for over 3 years. She has one previously failed IVF. She has had 2 laparoscopies to remove large (4~5 cm) chocolate cysts and severe endometriosis in the past 10 years. Her HSG done 6 years ago showed 100% blockage of the right tube and partial blockage of the left tube. Her FSH was 31. She had been to many acupuncturists and herbalists without success. She has been on birth control pills to manage her severe menstrual cramps. She started acupuncture and herbal treatments designed for her special case by Dr. Lee at the end of April 2005. After three weeks, her day 3 FSH was 31 and E2 was 13. To get pregnant, she needed to get off the birth control pills. So she did. She was surprised to find out that she had less menstrual pain without BCP, just 3 days of heavy menstrual bleeding in mid June 2005. But, her next cycle, that should have started in mind July, never came. She was pregnant. She had only 9 acupuncture and herbal treatments with Dr. Lee in two and a half months.

7-18-05 Update: Pregnant in one treatment.

A 34-yr-old infertility patient who got pregnant from her 1st IUI, but miscarried at 10th week. She then, failed to get pregnant after trying 3 more IUIs and one IVF ( Feb 05) over the past 3 years. She came to see Dr. Lee on 7-9-05. After only one acupuncture and herbal treatments, she was test positive for pregnancy.

Caution: This a rare case. There are about less than 5 cases out of hundreds of cases, that patient got pregnant in just one or two acupuncture and herbal treatments. Even though, Dr. Lee's goal is to get patients pregnant in the shortest time, one should keep the expectation in check with the individual situation. For instance, the patient in case 37 above, had no endometriosis, no blocked tubes, no PCOS, no history of irregular periods, no major imbalances thru Dr. Lee exam, her husband had a near normal semen analysis. In addition, luck had placed her 1st treatment with Dr. Lee on the day which was 8 days after her ovulation, at which time the egg had been fertilized and implanted a day or two already. The acupuncture and herbs and the change in her diet had helped her to keep the fragile implant for additional 7 days for the urine test to be positive.

8-8-05 Update: Pregnant in four treatments.

A 31-yr-old infertility patient who had 2 natural pregnancies, but miscarried at 6th and 8th week. She then, failed to get pregnant after trying 3 more IUIs. Her last IUI ended in mid June 05. She came to see Dr. Lee on 7-11-05. After only four acupuncture and herbal treatments, she was test positive for pregnancy on 7-30-05 in just 20 days.
